Phoenix Baptist Church Screening Clinic - November 3, 2005

The Phoenix Baptist Church Clinic opened on March 1.    The church offers a screening clinic for a few hours each
Tuesday after the weekly women's prayer meeting.  A nurse volunteers at the clinic along with three lay health
builders.  The pastor and three men from the church provide Christian counseling to anyone who desires it.
Screening services such as blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, waist/hip measurements, and body-mass index
are offered, A local optometrist offers eye screening on-site free of charge.   Referrals and health information are
provided to those who have positive results on the screening tests.
Dr. Rick discuss topics surrounding HIV/AIDS with the lay counseling team.  Nurse Vana is being trained to offer HIV testing at the screening clinic.
